Volcanoes!

In science we have been learning about rocks. We made our own volcanoes and predicted what would happen. Check out the exciting photos!

Week beginning 10th February

We have had another exciting week in Year Three. We have had two exciting visitors. Monday began with a visit from Elin Haf Davies who told us all about her sporting adventures on the seas. She has raised lots of money for charity and is why she held the Olympic Torch. Then on Thursday Natalia's Grandad Julian came to tell us all about how the Ancient Egyptians built the pyramids. We would like to say a huge thank you to Julian and Elin for giving us their time. It was inspirational!

In class we have been learning to calculate the duration of time and have written our own stories based on Little Evie in the Wild Woods by Jackie Morris.

Jackie Morris will be visiting Year 3 Silver in March during the Book Links project. We hope she likes our stories as much as we do!

Have a happy and safe half term break.

See you on Monday 24th February.

Photos from our amazing Ancient Egyptian day!

We had another great week in Year 3 which included our very succesful Ancient Egyptian day! We made costumes and dressed up as Pharaohs. We even wrapped each other as mummies and danced like Ancient Egyptians! The homework projects are due in on Thursday 30th January and we have already seen some great things. We have had lots of exciting Ancient Egyptian 'show and tell' sessions so keep it up! We always like to hear about the children's interests and passions.
The homework set on Thursday 23rd was to write about our Ancient Egyptian day and count in tens, hundreds and fifties.

Enjoy the pictures!

Hi Everyone, Welcome to our new year three blog. We will updating this page regularly with homework and exciting news. We have had a great start back after the winter break. The children have loved Michael Rosen's poems and these can be viewed from home on youtube. This term our topic is Ancient Egypt and to start this exciting topic we will be having a dress up day on Thursday 23rd January. We will be making costumes in school but if you would like to make your own at home please feel free to do so. This week's homework is to write a rap poem about school (remember your rhyming couplets.) We have also been working on fractions of shapes and whole numbers. See back of homework sheet. Enjoy the weekend!
